1st History Group Workshop 
Search of the Time-less  in Architecture- Geometrical Proportioning in Traditional Architecture  of Pakistan

23rd February to 3rd March 2010

The week long workshop was attended by a select group of participants consisting of students, faculty and professionals from within the department and outside. The aim of the workshop was to explore the principles of the Islamic Art and Architecture and to understand the relevance of the arts in contemporary context.
The carefully detailed and vigorous workshop was initiated with site visits to a residence and mazaar that are based on the principles of design and proportions derived from the study of the Islamic Arts and Architecture.
The workshop laid the basis of the theoretical frame-work for the understanding of Islamic Art & Architecture. A seminar was conducted based on the assigned reader that explored the text and theory of the Islamic Arts and Architecture. This was followed by a lecture by Taimoor Khan on the Principles of Art and Architecture that is based on the concept of Unity that is the driving force behind the development of complex designs in the field of Art and Architecture from the Islamic World.
